Day 43: Let it snow!!

So, at long last, the long talked-about snow finally arrived in Georgia! Seems those snow pants yesterday worked! It started around 2:00 this afternoon while we were still at school. Being in a trailer, ahem, portable, allows me to see what’s going on weather-wise pretty easily! The kids were begging to go out and “play” in the snow. I let them have the last couple of minutes out in it, as much for them as for me! I love snow!! The students were screaming and laughing and really enjoyed the novelty of falling snow here in Atlanta. I actually enjoyed sharing it with them! 🙂

The snow continued falling most of the afternoon and evening. I thought it had stopped once the sun set. However, it looks like it is actually starting to accumulate not just on grass, but on the road and pavement! Fingers are crossed for a bonus day off tomorrow! I’ll keep you posted. 😉

ETA: They just came on the news and announced no school tomorrow! Yippee!!

I got these as a gift (homemade) from a student for Christmas. I’m not sure what kind of cookies they are, though! I was expecting some kind of coconut thing. But once I bit into one, I realized it’s got nuts (pecans?) in it and sort of the texture of moist biscotti. They are delicious! I actually sorta skipped dinner and just had a couple (ok, like 4!) of these for dinner instead. The cookie part is not super sweet- just nutty. The powdered sugar is in perfect proportion and adds just the right amount of sweetness. If you know what these are called, I’d love to know! I think I remember which student gave them to me (yes, I got that many things from students! Sweet, isn’t it!), so I will ask her when we get back to school in 2 weeks if I remember. In the meantime, I get to enjoy some nutty yummyness!

Day 20: Chocolats

Isn’t this cool? Guess what’s inside! Yep, lots and lots of chocolate- Ghiradelli, Lindor truffles, Toblerone, etc. A student’s mother had these delivered here to school to each of her two sons’ teachers! The office staff emailed me around lunch that I had a box waiting for me in the office. Out of curiosity, I went ahead and opened it right there (not knowing it was a gift!) I think they were jealous. Oops. This is WAY too much chocolate just for me, so I will definitely be sharing it with family and friends.

Day 19: Ugh!

I have a rule about bringing work home- I don’t! I used to a LOT when I first started teaching, and I used to get so stressed about never getting time off. But, there’s just no getting around it this week. I was up till after 11 pm last night grading quizzes and writing assignments. I should really get started on these now. I got home late after tutoring a couple of hours after school and would really prefer to just relax! Oh well.. it’s all temporary. This time next week, I’ll be on my first day off (sort of- still got an hour of tutoring!) for 23 days straight. It’s my light at the end of the tunnel………..
